Urban Beat Concert

All students are encouraged to take part in our annual concert to showcase their skills and gain valuable performance experience, although this is NOT compulsory

Here at Urban Beat, our Drum Lesson are aimed at producing versatile, well-rounded drummers that are equipped and well suited to any drumming situation in which they may find themselves.

Each tuition studio is equipped with both an Electric AND Acoustic drum set, to ensure that students are comfortable playing on either one of them.

Once students have reached a comfortable level of playing, they are encouraged to take part in the Urban Beat Concert, where they will gain valuable performance experience and make musical memories that will last a lifetime! (This is NOT compulsory)

Let's Meet The Teacher

Ian Black

Ian began playing drums in 1996, before founding the Urban Beat Music School in 2001.
Over the years, he has held teaching posts at many private and government schools across the Mother City.
As well as maintaining his private tuition and clinic schedules, Ian has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and experience which has contributed towards him becoming a well-trusted and respected drum teacher and leader in his field.
Throughout his career, Ian has drummed for a variery of bands, both on stage and in studio and is no stranger to many live music venues in and outside of Cape Town.
